What is QuizMagic?
QuizMagic is an AI-powered quiz and summary generator built for teachers, trainers, and lifelong learners. It turns any source — a PDF, a Word doc, a PowerPoint, a YouTube video, or even a single topic name — into a ready-to-use quiz or study summary in under a minute.
Who is QuizMagic for?
- Teachers and professors creating formative assessments, homework, and exams.

What languages does QuizMagic support?
Quizzes and summaries are generated in the same language as your source material. Upload a French PDF — get a French quiz. Paste a Spanish YouTube transcript — get a Spanish quiz. The interface itself is currently in English.
Which browsers and devices are supported?
QuizMagic is a fully responsive web app and works on all modern browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge) on desktop, tablet, and mobile. There’s nothing to install. For the smoothest essay-grading and Smart Sharing experience, we recommend desktop Chrome or Safari.
2. Quiz Generation
How do I generate a quiz?
- Sign up for a free account.
- From the Dashboard, open the Quiz Generator.
- Choose your input: paste text, upload a file, paste a YouTube link, or enter a topic name.
- Pick your question type, count, and difficulty.
- Click Generate Quiz — your quiz is ready in 20–60 seconds.
What input methods can I use?
- Text — paste up to 500,000 characters of source content.
- File upload — PDF, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, plain text, or images.
- YouTube URL (Premium) — extracts transcript and generates from video content.
- Topic — just type a subject (e.g., “Photosynthesis for Grade 7”); the AI generates from its own knowledge.
- My Uploads — re-use a file you previously uploaded without re-uploading.
What question types can I generate?
- Multiple Choice (MCQ) — 4 options, 1 correct.
- True / False
- Fill in the Blanks — auto-graded with fuzzy matching for minor typos.
- Short Answer — auto-graded with fuzzy matching.
- Essay (Premium auto-grading via AI Essay Grading).
- Mixed — combine any of the above in a single quiz.
What is a “Cognitive Framework” and why use it?
QuizMagic can target specific cognitive skills using education research-backed frameworks:
- Bloom’s Taxonomy — Remembering, Understanding, Applying, Analyzing, Evaluating, Creating.
- SOLO Taxonomy — Pre-structural through Extended Abstract.
- Mixed mode — combines Bloom’s and SOLO with 11 cross-mapped combinations for nuanced assessment design.
- None — let the AI choose the best mix.
You can set the distribution per level (e.g., 40% Understanding, 30% Applying, 30% Analyzing) for fine-grained control.
What is the Quiz Regenerator?
Already saved a quiz but want a fresh batch from the same material? The Quiz Regenerator generates a new, unique set of questions from a saved quiz’s source — perfect for retests or weekly variants.
How long does generation take?
Most quizzes generate in 20–60 seconds. Large quizzes (50–100 questions) are split into batches and may take 1–3 minutes.
3. Files, Sources & Limits
Which file formats are supported?
- Documents: PDF, Word (.doc, .docx), PowerPoint (.ppt, .pptx), Excel (.xls, .xlsx), plain text (.txt).
- Images: JPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF, BMP, WebP.
How does the AI read my files?
Files are sent directly as binary data to the AI — there’s no separate text-extraction step. This means the AI sees images, diagrams, charts, equations, and slide layouts inside your file, not just plain text. As a result, image-heavy PDFs, scanned documents, and visual slide decks work much better in QuizMagic than in tools that rely on OCR or text extraction.
What are the file size and count limits?

If your file is larger than 10 MB, compress it (try wecompress.com) or split it by chapter.
Is there a text/character limit?
Yes — pasted text inputs are capped at 500,000 characters (roughly 100,000 words / 200 pages).
What about YouTube videos?
YouTube-to-Quiz is a Premium feature. Paste any public YouTube URL and QuizMagic extracts the transcript to build the quiz. Videos must have captions (auto-generated or human) for transcript extraction to work.
What is “My Uploads”?
Every file you upload is automatically saved to My Uploads so you can re-use it later without re-uploading. These are your source files, not your generated quizzes (saved quizzes live in Saved Quizzes). You can delete uploaded files at any time from the Uploads page.
4. Summaries
Can QuizMagic generate study summaries, not just quizzes?
Yes — QuizMagic includes a separate Summary Generator. It produces clean, structured study summaries from any source (file, text, YouTube, or topic) and saves them to Saved Summaries.
Can I share summaries with students?
Yes. Summaries support a sharing flow similar to quizzes — share a link, and students can view the summary without an account.
Do summaries count against my generation limit?
Yes. Quizzes and summaries share the same generation counter (Free: 2/day, 10/month combined).

How do I create a Smart Sharing session?
From any saved quiz, click Save & Share → Smart Sharing → configure session name, time limit, attempts allowed, anti-cheating, randomization, and Allow Review (off by default — controls whether students can see their answers afterward). Copy the share link and send it to your students.
How does real-time tracking work?
While students are taking a Smart Sharing quiz, the dashboard shows who’s currently active. Students send a heartbeat every 30 seconds; an active window of 5 minutes determines who’s still online.
Can I randomize questions and answer choices?
Yes. Smart Sharing supports both question order randomization and option order randomization. Randomization is “mixed-safe” — it shuffles MCQ options without breaking essay or fill-in-the-blank questions.
Can I override an auto-graded score?
Yes. In the Smart Sharing dashboard, open any student attempt → adjust per-question scores → save. The override is preserved per attempt.
How do students see their grades?
You control grade visibility with the Grade Released toggle — per individual attempt, or session-wide. Grades stay hidden from students until you release them.
How do I export results?
Smart Sharing supports two export modes:
- Bulk CSV — one row per student attempt, summary scores.
- Per-student PDF or DOCX — full answer sheet for each student.
6. AI Essay Grading
How does AI Essay Grading work?
Premium subscribers get 5 essay tokens per month. One token grades up to 50 essay submissions in a single Smart Sharing session. The AI evaluates each essay against teacher-defined criteria (rubric) and returns a score plus written feedback. You can review and override any score.
Where does the token go?
You spend 1 token when you trigger grading on a session — regardless of whether 1 or 50 students submitted. Tokens reset monthly with your subscription.
Can I buy more tokens?
Yes — additional essay token packs can be purchased separately from the Essay Tokens page if you exceed your monthly allowance.
What happens to unused monthly tokens?
Monthly tokens expire at the end of your billing cycle. Purchased (top-up) tokens never expire and are spent only after monthly tokens are used up.
Can I customize the grading rubric?
Yes. Each essay question supports a custom rubric with weighted criteria. The AI uses your rubric to score consistently.
7. Anti-Cheating & Integrity
What does the anti-cheating system monitor?
Anti-cheating (Premium-only, configurable per Smart Sharing session) tracks:
- Tab switching — switching to another browser tab.
- Window blur (desktop only) — clicking outside the browser window.
- Copy / paste attempts.
- Right-click attempts.
- Fullscreen exit if fullscreen mode is required.
- Developer tools being opened.
Why doesn’t window-blur trigger on mobile?
Mobile devices fire spurious blur events constantly (notifications, system UI, screen rotation), so the system suppresses window-blur on screens narrower than 768 px to avoid false-positive violations.
What happens when a student violates a rule?
The student sees a warning dialog. Repeated violations can auto-submit the quiz, depending on your session settings. All violations are logged with timestamps and details for your review.
Can a student retake the quiz from a different browser to bypass attempt limits?
No. QuizMagic uses a stable browser fingerprint (session identifier) plus name and email matching to block duplicate attempts — even across incognito windows or different browsers on the same device.

When do my limits reset?
- Daily limit (2 free): resets at local midnight.
- Monthly limit (10 free): resets on the 1st of each month.
Is billing recurring?
Yes — both monthly and yearly plans renew automatically via HitPay or PayPal. You can cancel auto-renewal at any time from your Profile page; you’ll keep Premium access until the end of the current period.
How do I cancel?
Profile → Subscription → Cancel Auto-Renewal. No phone calls, no hoops.
Do you offer refunds?
Yes — see our Refund Policy. Note that extensive use of premium features (such as generating many quizzes or grading many essays) before requesting a refund may make the request ineligible.
What happens to my saved quizzes if my Premium subscription expires?
Quizzes and summaries beyond your free-plan limits are soft-hidden (not deleted) when your subscription expires. They are automatically restored if you renew. This protects your work.
How do I delete my account?
Profile → Delete Account → confirm with the emailed verification code. All your data is permanently removed.
Is my data secure?
Yes. All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. We never sell your data. Quiz content and uploads are accessible only to you (enforced by row-level security in the database).
Do I need to whitelist any domains on a school network?
For best reliability, whitelist quizmagic.io, *.supabase.co, *.hitpay.com, *.paypal.com, and *.youtube.com (for YouTube-to-Quiz transcript fetching).

Do you have an affiliate program?
